What sets her apart is how she balances structure with flexibility: she follows a clear curriculum, but she constantly adapts the content of our conversations to my interests and to what comes up in the moment. Every lesson feels dynamic and fresh rather than scripted. Jie also brings a remarkable breadth of culture to her teaching. Whether the conversation turns to classical poetry, history, folklore or everyday life in China, she has something insightful to share, and she does it in a way that deepens my understanding of Chinese as a living language rather than a set of rules.
